Polymath Rabindranath Tagore’s poetry won not only numerous awards, but also hearts. His work is said to have a similar impact as Shakespeare’s, and even then, it is not as widespread as the latter. Of the few people who practice Rabindra Sangeet, Dr. Smita Guha is one such talented individual in the US. She will bring to life distinct renditions from the Rabindra Sangeet school of music for New York to witness - LIVE.

ABOUT THE ARTIST


Smita Guha:
​
Dr. Smita Guha is a professor and a vocalist. She is Sangeet Prabhakar in Hindustani Classical and Rabindra Sangeet. Later she joined Bengal Music College and earned Geeto Prabha. She had been trained in Hindustani Classical from Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty and Tagore's songs from Shree Prasad Sen and Srimati Suchitra Mitra. She has a music album with Mr. Bappi Lahiri. titled, "Indian Melody". 
Smita has been continuously performing on stage and on TV in India and US including DoorDorshan, Akash Arth, Ruposhi Bangla, Srijon TV, Aaji e Probhate, Tara TV, ITV gold, TV Asia, to name a few.

Ravi Mishra:
Born and raised in New York, Ravi started his musical journey at the age of 3 learning devotional music nurtured by his parents and temple. At the age of 9 he commenced his hindustani classical training under the tutelage of Pt. Kinnar and Payal Seen. He later furthered his studies under the guidance of Pt. Ajay Jha & currently studies under his guru Smt. Sanhita Nandi of the Kirana Gharana. Ravi has traveled extensively for the past 13 years sharing the stage with many artists such as Pt. Anindo Chatterjee, Pt. Kumar Bose, Anuradha Paudwal, Kumar Sanu and many more.

Rajendra Prasad:
At the age of 13, Rajendra started learning tabla from tabla artist Tapan Moduk, disciple of the great Pt. Kishan Maharaj of Benaras, India. Later, at the age of 17, Rajendra moved to study under the guidance Shri Kinnar Seen, eldest son of the well-known musical authority Ustad Lachman Singh Seen of the Punjab Gharana.Rajendra has accompanied renowned known artists, such as Hari Om Sharan, Kavita Paudwal, and Bollywood Artists such as Suresh Wadkhar , Runa Rizvi and Rajkumar Rizvi. Recently, Rajendra also enjoys studying Western Drums, and their styles of rhythm

Anandita Guha:
Anandita had been learning to play keyboard when she was 4 years old and has a natural sense of musicality being a dancer and a singer of both Western and Indian music. She is pursuing her Bachelor’s in Hospitality and Tourism Management at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is a student Ambassador and helps students with learning disabilities in succeeding in their classes. She has put tireless effort in serving the frontline workers during COVID-19.
